What is encaustic art?
|
|
Encaustic art was first invented by the ancient Egyptians around 4000 years ago. Encaustic means 'To burn in' as they used to burn wax into a surface with a hot spatula. Today it is obviously a bit more refined, the wax is worked with a hot iron or other heated tools, to provide astonishing effects. There is really no end to what you can achieve if you practise hard!
